Turkish stone comes back in vogue
The stone used to make various features in your home doesn't all necessarily come from one place. The natural stone industry is a global one, and material comes from not just all over the United States, but also from around the world. And according to recent news, this has only gotten more true in recent years.
Daily Sabah reported on February 5 that Turkey's exports of natural stone have markedly increased over the last few years thanks to demand from the US. The American hunger for stone has led exports to jump by 9 per cent, and was worth $330 million.
This was in marked contrast to a few years earlier, when the global financial crisis pushed down US demand for foreign stone products. As we've gotten further and further from the crisis, however, more Americans are building high-quality, luxurious homes – one of the ingredients for which is high-end natural stone.
Why Turkish stone?
According to the news source, Turkish natural stone tends to be especially popular with the Beverly Hills crowd – you know, swimming pools, movie stars. However, anyone wanting the finest materials for the construction of a luxury home is likely to use Turkish stone, which is as ample in supply as it is in beauty. Some famous types of Turkish marble include:
- Aegean bordeaux
- Afyon tigerskin
If you are going to use a foreign sourced product for the marble feature in your home, you'll probably end up spending a pretty penny on the material. Taking proper care of your stone will be of the utmost importance in order to make sure you get the most bang for your buck.
